The above naned stṣarship was purchased from the
Adelaide Stearship Co. Ltd. of Sydney, Australis on the 26th.
February 1916. At the time of purchase the ship was rexistered
at Adelaide, Leutl. Ausizslis, and the provisions of the Transfor
Restriction Act of 1915 did nɛt apply to the transfer.
The purchase was made by Mr. MacDonald of Hongkong
on behalf of certain Chinese who were desirous of buying her. The
Chinese supplied Mr. MacDonald with the money to purchase the
steamship. The Bill of Ɛale van made out in Mr. MaoDonsld's nLI
as purchaser and sent in to the Australian Authorities for
registration.
The Australian authorities refured to register it
unlese Mr. MacDonald made a Declaration that thehip was wholly
British owned and the transfer has not yet been regietered. The
ship, however, was brought up here from Australia erd is new in
the hands of the Dook Company undergoing repairs.
The Chinese concerned in the purchase vare informed
that if they wanted to become the owners of the ship they must
tauraform themselves into a British Registered Company here and
sccordingly on the 8th, day of May 1916 they procured & Company
to be incorporated called "The Innamincks Steamship Co. Ltd.
for the purpose of acquiring and owning the ship. The Company
wee registered as a private company and Kr. MacDonald was
appointed under the Vemorandum and Artioles Permanent General
Manager.
The Ecard of Directora corsiated of Mr. MacDonald and
two other members both of whom were British subjects.
